WHAT WE DO

FLY SERVICE Engineering provides Access & Maintenance based on Rope Access going through a full design, fabrication, and supply process: from Feasibility to Construction Design, defining overall strategy, system layout, and design of single components.

We develop safe, simple, and bespoke systems, to adapt all possible facade geometries, even the most challenging.

Using rope access techniques as a work at height method, we design access and maintenance strategies for any shape, height, and size. We focus on maintenance issues such as the replacement of parts of the facade and any other maintenance activities needed during the lifetime of the building.

WHY ROPE ACCESS ?

We have adopted this access and positioning system for its safety, versatility, and efficiency, all features that make Rope Access the most advanced work-at-height technique, especially when dealing with complex structures.

A large number of abseiling companies are operating worldwide in all geographic areas, with a high level of personnel training and uniform standard of performance.

The combination of the Rope Access features and the skills of our engineering team allows obtaining high-level results perfectly responding to the challenges and requirements of modern architecture.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

A holistic approach with safety as first issue

The system must guarantee operators the highest degree of safety, with the most advanced and up-to-date technology and equipment. Access strategies must be clear and intuitive and must ensure correct ergonomics.
Operators must be highly trained. The safety issue must be their first concern. Strong knowledge of safety systems and a high perception of risk are the best countermeasure against falls from height.

The system must be easy to be used by each operator singularly and by the largest number of operators (given the dimension of the building).
The simplest the system, the better, avoiding bulky and slow machines, and privileging the use of simple devices.
The access strategy must be easy and clear, studying short and specific moving procedures (access points-moving paths-egress points)

The system meets the needs of the present constructions without compromising the future utilization and maintenance of the project. Reduce negative human environmental impact: Co2-free, no noise, it does not use fossil fuels.

The system must be invisible to preserve the global image of the lightness of the structure. The presence of awkward and bulky machines permanently installed inside and outside would certainly spoil the aesthetic of the building considerably.

Capital costs and running costs: cost of workforce, cost of maintenance of the access system, (energy costs) should be obviously limited at maximum.

KEYWORDS

INTEGRATION: integration between different needs with SAFETY as a first issue

COORDINATION: strict coordination with all professionals involved in the design and construction

INNOVATION: SIMPLE SOLUTIONS FOR DIFFICULT PROBLEMS – to do this, search for the most up-to-date technologies – need of bespoke systems

OUR APPROACH
TO ACCESS & MAINTENANCE

MODUS OPERANDI

Each issue is related to the others. An optimal access system can be designed only if all these aspects are considered together as part of the same problem, and solved recursively.

TOOLS

NEW WORK AT HEIGHT  ACCESS TECHNIQUES

NEW IDEAS: bespoke tools to comply with specific functions

NEW MATERIALS: including composites and hi-tech materials

NEW TECHNOLOGIES: keep an eye on the most up-to-date technologies

FROM SCRATCH TO DELIVERY
PART 1
FEASIBILITY, ACCESS STRATEGY AND DESIGN

Feasibility

Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility study to assess the main guidelines of the system, and a preliminary cost assessment.

Access Strategy

Definition of overall strategies, system layouts, and design of single components, with special attention to the integration of the devices into the façade. Solutions are discussed, shared, and agreed upon with all professionals involved in building design and construction.

Calculations

Calculation reports, drawings, Finite Element Analysis, and all required documentation for approval, fabrication, and construction.

Design

Design, prototyping, testing, fabrication, and certification of new devices: anchor points, lifting systems, accessory devices, manipulators.

PART 2
ASSISTANCE

Assistance
with the installation

Assistance with the installation of all the items designed for the project through instructions, Method Statements, and on-site visits.

Assistance
to the facade contractor

Assistance to the Façade Contractor for the traceability of the devices during the fabrication and installation process.

Certification of the system

Conformity of the installation to the given standards and design specifications.

Time Cycle Analysis

Conformity of the installation to the given standards and design specifications.

Handbook of maintenance

Specific instructions on how to perform the maintenance on the building, through paper and/or digital (RFID tech) documentation sketches, animations, etc.) Possibility of training local personnel on-site on the specific progression.

Special solutions to the builder

Special solutions to the Builder to solve complex construction problems.
